TR Investments Expands Global Reach from New York to Dubai, Targeting Gulf Investors

TR Investments, a boutique hedge fund based in New York City, offers personalised alternative investment opportunities for wealthy clients and institutions. Its international division opens access to U.S. stock, bond, and broader financial markets for global capital partners, including investors in the UAE and the wider Middle East.

A Humble Beginning

Founded in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Tawfiq Rahman—former medical practice owner and volunteer physician—launched TR Investments to help individuals like his own grandmother, who rely on fixed incomes and earn minimal returns from traditional savings. His approach involved deploying funds into investments designed to outperform the stock market.

Leveraging his healthcare network, Rahman grew the firm from a handful of clients to dozens of high-net-worth individuals within a few years, thanks to early successes and a simplified model accessible even to novice investors. “Trust is the number one key. The personal human connections we value and maintain with our clients set us apart,” he said.

Worldwide Expansion

Today, TR Investments manages $1 billion in assets, with offices in New York, Grand Cayman, and most recently Dubai, opened in May 2025. With a $1 million minimum investment, the firm serves more than 150 ultra-high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients across the United States, Middle East, North Africa, and Singapore. Rahman remains the sole shareholder, bringing a decade of executive leadership experience to scaling companies globally.

Client-Centred Business Model

The firm employs a multidisciplinary team of finance, computer engineering, and legal experts. Licensed fund managers optimise investment performance and manage risk, while AI-driven algorithms analyse large datasets for proprietary strategies. Legal officers ensure governance, transparency, and Shari’ah-compliant investing aligned with regional cultural and religious norms.

Clients benefit from a comprehensive suite of hedge-fund strategies designed to preserve and grow wealth across generations.

Looking Ahead

Rahman also heads a subsidiary focused on acquiring stakes in European football clubs, inspired by sports magnate Shahid Khan, owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham F.C.

For now, Rahman’s focus is on delivering high-quality investment services during the firm’s expansion, particularly in the Arabian Gulf. “The limitless potential, incredible hospitality, safety, and sense of belonging in the UAE are unparalleled,” he said. “Being able to call Dubai home is the prize.”

In his personal time, Rahman enjoys tennis tournaments and travelling between New York, Dubai, and Beverly Hills, maintaining a relatively private life.
