“Ramadan Initiatives Translate Spiritual Values into Real Community Benefits”

Dubai: The Community Development Authority (CDA) has launched more than 12 Ramadan initiatives as part of the citywide “Season of Wulfa” campaign, aimed at enhancing family cohesion and fostering a more connected, compassionate society.

These programmes align with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the Year of Family, placing families at the centre of sustainable community development.

Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of CDA, explained that the Ramadan initiatives are designed to translate the spiritual values of the Holy Month into tangible, lasting community impact. “Ramadan is not only a time for reflection, but also a renewed opportunity to strengthen the bonds that unite families and communities,” she said. “Through the ‘Season of Wulfa’, we are delivering initiatives that place people and families at the heart of development, fostering shared responsibility and long-term social cohesion.”

The initiatives cover educational programmes, humanitarian efforts, and inclusive platforms that promote dialogue, belonging, and intergenerational connections.

Key Programmes

Community Majalis – “Al Qare’ Al Sagher”
Running throughout Ramadan in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, this programme strengthens children’s connection to the Quran, improving recitation and reflection skills in an age-appropriate and engaging way.

Ramadan Dialogues – “Sawalif Al Mayalis” & “Hamael Al Khair”

  • Sawalif Al Mayalis targets men, focusing on family life, parent-child relationships, timely family formation, and the role of senior citizens.
  • Hamael Al Khair engages women after Taraweeh prayers, emphasizing generosity, moral responsibility, and nurturing resilient families.

“Gift It Forward”
CDA participates in this empowerment-based philanthropy initiative by Dubai Holding, distributing over 125,000 items in collaboration with more than 55 partners. The programme promotes responsible, dignified giving.

“Khair Dubai bi Ahlaha”
In partnership with Dubai Charity Association, this initiative highlights the contributions of Emirati home-based entrepreneurs who prepare Iftar meals, reinforcing productive community service and a culture of giving.

Iftar Dubai
A flagship programme bringing together people of diverse nationalities and backgrounds, fostering dialogue, coexistence, and mutual respect.

Eid Celebrations
CDA extends its community efforts into Eid through initiatives such as:

  • Kanduret El Eid – providing children with traditional attire to preserve cultural identity.
  • Fawalet El Eid – reviving authentic Emirati hospitality by distributing sweets and Arabic coffee at mosques and Eid prayer grounds, sustaining the spirit of Wulfa beyond Ramadan.
