Motorists traveling between Dubai and Sharjah are experiencing delays of up to 45 minutes on major routes, including E311, Al Ittihad Road, and Sheikh Zayed Road.

Dubai: Morning commuters between Dubai and Sharjah are encountering heavy traffic on key routes. Real-time updates from Google Maps and Waze show red and dark-red congestion across the region’s busiest roads, with some hotspots reporting delays of up to 45 minutes.
The Sharjah–Dubai Corridor
The E11 Al Ittihad Road is heavily congested this morning, with Google Maps showing severe traffic from Sharjah’s Al Khan and Al Taawun areas stretching into Dubai’s Al Mamzar and beyond. Commuters on this route should anticipate delays and track real-time updates, as conditions are shifting quickly during peak hours between 7am and 9am.
Al Wahda Street in Sharjah is also gridlocked, with Waze reporting near-standstill traffic from Al Khan to Al Mulla Plaza—a stretch that could add 20–25 minutes to the usual commute. King Faisal Street and other inner-city Sharjah roads are similarly crowded, as residents make their way toward Dubai-bound entry points.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311)
The E311 is heavily congested this Tuesday morning. Google Maps shows critical traffic from Sharjah’s Al Zahia City Centre to Dubai’s Muhaisnah 4, with Waze users reporting delays of 35–45 minutes on a stretch that normally takes about 15 minutes. Al Nahda near the S102 Sharjah Ring Road is a major bottleneck, with traffic crawling during peak hours.
Emirates Road (E611) – Alternative Route
Drivers seeking an alternative may find slightly smoother flow on Emirates Road (E611), particularly via Academic City. Both Google Maps and Waze indicate moderate traffic, making it a viable detour for those heading toward Dubai Silicon Oasis, Festival City, or the Dubai–Al Ain Road approach through Mirdif.
However, commuters should exercise caution: Al Dhaid Road Bridge No. 7 on E611 was closed overnight from February 16–17 for scheduled infrastructure upgrades by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. Although the closure was set to end at 8am, residual traffic management measures may still be in effect. Waze alerts in the area should be monitored before taking this route.
Dubai’s Inner Roads Under Pressure
Inside Dubai, several major routes are experiencing significant congestion independently of Sharjah traffic.
- Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) southbound toward Abu Dhabi is moving slowly near the Al Safa and Al Barsha interchanges.
- E44 Ras Al Khor Road is heavily congested from Dubai Design District to Business Bay, as per Google Maps.
- Airport Street near Dubai International Airport is seeing a morning buildup, worsening delays in Al Garhoud, Al Jafiliya, and Al Kifaf.
Meanwhile, Sharjah’s Industrial Areas, particularly Industrial Area 3, continue to contribute to heavy outbound traffic, with bumper-to-bumper conditions on 125 Street and 4 Street during peak morning hours.
Dubai Police and the RTA urge drivers to maintain safe following distances and consider public transport options where possible.
