bu Dhabi City Municipality is expanding designated barbecue areas across parks, providing family-friendly spaces equipped with dedicated platforms, charcoal containers and waste bins.
The move comes as authorities urged residents to use only approved locations for barbecuing and to follow guidelines aimed at protecting public facilities and the environment.
Within Abu Dhabi Island, barbecue areas are available at Family Park (A), Family Park (B), Al Nawfal Park, Al Boom Park, Formal Park, Heritage Park (4–5), Arabian Gulf Street Parks, Dolphin Park, Old Airport Park, Al Zafranah Park, Al Nozha Park and Al Muzoon Park on Al Qurm Beach.
On the mainland, several parks are also equipped with barbecue facilities, including Al Fan, Al Jouri, Al Arjan and Rabdan Parks, Al Rahba Square, Al Wathba Park, Al Khatm Park, Al Barjeel Park, Al Kadi Park, Al Bayraq Park, Al Fanoos Park, Al Shamkha Square and Al Salmiya Recreational Vehicles Park.
The initiative is part of Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s periodic awareness drive, ‘Darna, Our Responsibility’, which aims to encourage community members to comply with regulations governing the use of parks and recreational facilities, particularly safe and responsible barbecuing practices.
Officials called on visitors to maintain cleanliness, avoid disposing of barbecue waste randomly and ensure that charcoal remnants are placed in designated concrete containers to protect green areas, trees and park infrastructure.
As part of the campaign, field teams have been conducting visits to parks, engaging directly with visitors and promoting positive practices while highlighting the importance of preserving the appearance and sustainability of public recreational spaces.
The municipality said the expansion of barbecue-ready locations aligns with efforts to provide accessible, family-oriented leisure destinations while maintaining safety standards and protecting the environment.
