Coronavirus: UAE reports 659 new Covid-19 cases, 419 recoveries, 3 deaths

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Thursday announced 659 new cases of Covid-19 infections and 419 cases of recovery.

More than 54,000 new Covid-19 tests have been carried out, the ministry said. Three new deaths from the infection were also reported.

The ministry wished a speedy recovery to all patients, calling on the public to abide by the precautionary measures in place and following all necessary medical advice in order to avoid more infections.

On Wednesday, the UAE has announced the gradual opening up of its airspace to allow operations of limited flights. The decision to resume flights comes after comprehensive assessment of the Covid situation.

In the coming days, the airlines will announce procedures related to their operational activities, and comprehensive safety measures are in place in all the country’s airports to ensure the safety of the passengers on these flights.

Starting June 7, the workforce at UAE government departments working in headquarters of federal ministries, agencies and institutions will increase by 50 per cent.

Meanwhile, the houses of worship in Dubai have begun preparations to reopen with stringent measures in place to beat coronavirus. Imams and muezzins of mosques have been asked to undergo precautionary tests for coronavirus. However, the authorities have not yet announced a date for the reopening of mosques.

Businesses, public spaces and offices are opening up in the country, however the government has stressed on residents’ commitment to precautionary measures to curb the spread of Covid-19.
