Police arrest murder suspect in Dubai after fatal stabbing near mosque

The accused and two friends are being held after a body was found in Ajman.

Police have arrested a man suspected of stabbing a colleague to death with a knife.

The suspect and two others were caught in Dubai, about 18 hours after the killing in Ajman.

Lt Col Ahmed Al Nuaimi, head of Ajman Police CID, said the body was found with stab wounds about 10.30pm on Sunday near a mosque in the Liwara area.

“Investigators and crime scene experts were dispatched to the location, where they found the dead body of an Asian, who had been stabbed several times,” he said.

The police questioned witnesses and found suspect was with two other men at the time.

“All three were in the same cafeteria where the victim was [before the attack],” he said.

Both argued before the incident – it is not known what about. The men later fled in a taxi.

Police later located the cab and recovered the murder weapon.

Officers did not release ages or nationalities and only described those involved as workers.

Officers said Dubai Police helped with the arrests. The case has been referred to the public prosecutor in Ajman.
