UAE heating up with temperatures set to soar by 10°C next week

Date:

Forecasters are predicting a welcome blast of sunshine across the Emirates after weeks of overcast weather.

Residents in the UAE can start reaching for the sunscreen again from next week, as temperatures are expected to surge to the high 20s.

While most parts of the country welcomed a respite from the months-long bout of rainy weather in mid-January, other areas remained uncharacteristically chilly.

After the stormy weather subsided, lows of 8°C -10°C were recorded during the early morning and late evening hours on most days, with midday highs only reaching the late teens and early 20s.

But weather charts show the country is in line for sunnier weather from next week. The BBC has forecast a rise in temperature from Sunday, and the mercury could reach 27°C, rising to 28°C on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and 29°C on Thursday.

While the air will feel hotter, humidity will remain relatively low, which is a welcome relief for many. On Saturday, humidity levels will reach 57 per cent, but in the following days it will reach between 30-40 per cent only.

Wind speeds are also set to slow down by the end of this week, making the air feel warmer and balmier.

On Wednesday, a moderate breeze sweeping in from the north west of the country is predicted to reach 19kmph. The UAE weather bureau said some parts of the country are set for more sandstorms and some rain, which will reduce visibility for commuters.

However, from Thursday, sunnier climes should reappear and winds could slow to as low as 4kmph during the morning hours and 10kmph during late afternoon.

The slight breeze is expected to remain for the whole of next week too, but speeds would not reach into the teens.

According to a 10-day forecast from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), clear skies will pave the way for a pleasant weekend from Friday, with no chance of cloud or rain.

And blue skies and sun will continue throughout next week.
