UAE Covid update reports 1,077 Covid-19 cases, 845 recoveries, 2 deaths

More than 19.4 million Covid-19 tests have been carried out in the UAE so far.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday reported 1,077 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 845 recoveries. Two deaths were also reported.

As many as new 94,911 Covid-19 tests were carried out, taking the total number of tests carried out in the country to nearly 19.4 million so far.

In a statement, the ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment. However, the ministry has urged the public to follow all preventive guidelines.

Countries around the world have begun banning flights and travellers from Britain as London said the spread of a more-infectious new coronavirus strain was “out of control”.

UAE airlines have suspended flights to Saudi Arabia “until further notice”. This comes as Saudi Arabia suspended late on Sunday all international commercial flights for a renewable week, over to a new, more infectious Covid-19 strain.

Meanwhile, travel plans of British expatriates residing in the UAE are reconsidering their upcoming travel plans for the holiday season are also worried if they can return home in time to return for work if the lockdown extends to after December 30.

However, the UAE carriers Emirates and Etihad on Sunday said there is no change in their flight operations to the UK after new curbs were announced for London due to slow a new strain of coronavirus. The national carriers said they’re operating as per their schedule and there is no change in operations at the moment.
