Good news for stranded Pakistanis in the UAE as PIA has announced operate a special flight on April 17 to repatriate passengers due to coronavirus pandemic.

So far, the airline has announced only flight on Tuesday as part of a its special flight operation to repatriate Pakistanis from around the world. More flights are expected to be announced soon. A highly places sources told Gulf News that other airlines such as flydubai and Emirates airline will also be given the permission to operate special flights to different cities in tteh country to repatriates the stranded Pakistanis. “The permission will be given as soon as we complete the quarantine arrangements are the airports. Preparations are in final stage and will be completes on priority basis to bring back our stranded citizens,” the official said.

More than 25,000 stranded Pakistanis have registered with the Pakistani missions in the UAE demanding to go back home.

Meanwhile, flydubai is operating a special flight from Dubai to Faisalabad on April 14 to repatriate freed Pakistanis prisoners.

PIA special flights schedule

Following is the schedule of special repatriation flights announced by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday.

Flights will depart for Manchester from Islamabad on April 17 and April 18.

Two more flights will be operated between Islamabad and Seoul on April 17.

A special flight will be operated between Karachi and Jakarta on April 18.

Two special flights will be operated between Karachi and Toronto on April 15 and 19.

A special flight will head to Dubai to bring back stranded Pakistanis on April 17.

Two flights will bring back 360 Pakistani prisoners from Oman on April 15 and 16.

Stranded Pakistanis

Earlier on Monday, Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi had told a parliamentary committee overseeing the matter to repatriate stranded Pakistanis that 39,748 Pakistanis have requested to return home to Pakistan.

The report quoted the foreign minister as saying that so far, 1,640 Pakistanis have been repatriated through 12 special flights. He said greater effort will be made to bring back stranded Pakistanis in this next phase of flights, reported

In this phase, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will repatriate more than 1,800 Pakistanis stranded at different destinations around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Those wishing to make a booking can contact PIA offices, its website and call centres, while tickets can be purchased from Pakistan as well, according to the airline.
